Boris Čakširan


Born in Croatia in 1962, Boris Čakširan studied painting and costume design at Belgrade University’s Faculty of Applied Arts. Throughout his extensive career, Čakširan has worked as a costume designer, choreographer and director. He has designed costumes for film, theater and television. He has created over 150 costume designs for theater, 30 costume designs for television and 20 designs for feature films. He is an accomplished artist who has participated in more than 40 professional art exhibits, including the Prague Quadrennial in 1987. In 1992, he became interested in art therapy and in 1998 became artistic director of ERGstatus Dance Theater. Since 1996, Čakširan has been a visiting choreographer at several universities in Israel. He has won numerous awards, including the Crystal Prism in 1995 for his costume design work on Premeditated Murder. In 2000, he won the Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia medallion for choreography.
