FDA hosted Barry Ackroyd

On Monday, April 26, 2010 the Camera Department of Belgrade University’s Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDA) hosted a workshop and discussion with distinguished British cinematographer Barry Ackroyd, BSC. Ackroyd is best known for his long time cooperation with director Ken Loach. He was an Oscar nominee this year and won the BAFTA award for his work on The Hurt Locker. He is currently working on Coriolanus in Belgrade.

Students and professors from FDA’s film department, the Art Academy of Novi Sad, and a number of directors of photography and other professionals participated in the two-hour workshop. The gathering focused on Ackroyd’s neo realistic and unconventional style. The session also included a discussion of Hurt Locker, complete with a screening of selected scenes. Both Ackroyd and the participants enjoyed a spirited discussion.

As Serbia becomes destination for international filmmakers, we hope to host more events like this.
