Luc Besson’s Lock Out Filming in Serbia

The Belgrade-based PFI Studios are a busy place these days. Produced by Luc Besson and directed by duo James Mather and Stephen St. Leger Lock Out is currently shooting in Belgrade after completing the construction of a grandiose futuristic science fiction set on the massive PFI sound stage.
The film stars Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace and Peter Stormare, and takes place in a prison in outer space. Famous for his work in Memento and L.A. Confidential, Guy Pearce plays a wrongly convicted man sent to a prison meant for serious criminals. His only salvation comes in the form of rescuing the U.S. President's daughter, played by Lost’s Maggie Grace, who is kidnapped and held hostage during a humanitarian visit to the prison.
Luc Besson, the film’s producer, previously collaborated with Serbia’s Work In Progress on District 13: Ultimatum, Human Zoo, and most recently, The Big Picture. Lock Out is the fourth EuropaCorp project to be filmed in Serbia in partnership with WIP and is estimated to be worth $30 million, making it one of the most expensive European productions.
