Music Composer

Goran Bregović

Born in Sarajevo, Goran Bregovic studied violin in a conservatory before he formed his first band, The White Button, at the age of 16. The group gained tremendous success in Eastern Europe, and for the next 15 years, Bregovic honed his skills as a composer and guitar player. In the late 1980’s, Bregovic’s career took a definitive turn when he composed the music for Emir Kusturica’s Time of the Gypsies. He went on to compose music for several award winning films, including Patrice Chereau’s La Reine Margot, Kusturica’s Underground, and Train de Vie, directed by Radu Mihaelanu. Beyond film, Bregovic has composed music for theatrical pieces, including Tomaz Pandur’s Silence of the Balkans. He also devotes time to composing his own music and collaborating with other renowned musical composers.
