Serbia’s robust film tradition dates back nearly a century. Hitting its peak in the early 1980s, the country’s thriving industry ranked second only to the United Kingdom in number of overseas productions. This international success fostered a burgeoning industry complete with both a vast network of highly experienced and inspired film crews and artists and a strong infrastructure of studio stages and laboratories. In the past decade, Serbia’s renowned film programs, which have produced a formidable pool of industry talent, have nurtured the domestic film industry. As a result, a number of film ventures created by Serbia’s production companies have earned the recognition of some of the most prominent film festivals across Europe and the United States.
