Cinema Design is an independent production company founded in 1990 by Ljubiša Samardžić, one of the most popular actors in post-World War II Yugoslavia.

Before focusing on production, Samardzic won numerous national and international acting awards. This includes six prestigious Golden Arena awards at the annual film festival in Pula, Croatia and a Golden Lion award at the 1967 Venice Film Festival, among others.

Ljubisa Samardzc’s directing debut was Nebeska Udica (Sky Hook), a drama that takes place during the 1999 NATO bombings. The film premiered at the 2000 Berlinale Film Festival as part of the Competition program. It was also screened at film festivals around the world, including Montreal, London, Jerusalem, Cannes, Paris and Los Angeles.
