Komuna was initially established in the mid 1990s as a distribution company for Emir Kusturica’s Time of Gypsies and Arizona Dream. The company went on to produce Underground, which won the Golden Palm award at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival, and Black Cat, White Cat, the Silver Lion prize winner at the 1998 Venice Film Festival. Komuna has since produced numerous feature films, including Savior, a co-production with Oliver Stone’s IEG production house.
Komuna has developed a series of television productions, including the top rated Family Treasure and Here Comes the Dollar series. Komuna has also produced several multi-episode productions about rock bands and the music scene in Serbia and the former Yugoslavia. They include No Smoking (Zabranjeno pusenje), four 55-minute episodes, Bajaga i Instruktori, three 55-minute episodes, and Main Stream (Glavni tok). Komuna partnered with Emir Kosturica to produce Once Upon a Time There Was a Country (Bila jednom jedna zemlja), six 55-minute episodes, Milos Radivojevic’s Variety Book of Dusko Radovic (Svastara Duska Radovica), thirteen 55-minute episodes, and Sinisa Pavic’s The Secret of the Family Treasure (Tajna porodicnog blaga), thirty six 55-minute episodes.

Services and capacity

Komuna has a staff of ten and utilizes the most up to date technical equipment, including a Red One 4k film camera.
