Founded in 1945, Avala Film is the largest film company in Serbia’s history. The studio made its first film in the post-war Yugoslavia of 1947 and went on to produce or co-produce over 400 documentaries, 200 Yugoslav feature films and 120 international productions. Avala Films productions have received over 200 awards at some of the most prominent film festivals and awards shows in the world. They include the Grand Prix Special in Cannes, the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles and the Golden Bear Awards in Berlin. Several of the studio’s productions have also been nominated for Academy Awards. Various facilities need to be refurbished, which is expected to
occur following privatization of the studios (to be announced in 2009).

Services and Capacity

Located on 90 acres of land in Kosutnjak, a large recreational park 4.5 miles from the heart of Belgrade and 10 miles from Belgrade’s international airport, Avala Films is a fully equipped studio complex capable of producing a wide range of productions, including feature films, television films, mini series, and commercials. The facility features several large and small sound stages, production and executive star rooms, dressing rooms, costume departments, workshops, post-production facilities and a lab. Avala Studios has a 200 person staff which comprises of technicians, accountants, clerks, maintanance and security staff.
Avala Films strives for excellence in every aspect of its operation. The studio offers a range of appealing services to its international clients, including:
