The Bajilo family have been making wine in Sremski Karlovci for centuries. They were one of the three families who knew the secret recipe for producing Bermet, a very distinctive spiced wine enjoyed at the courts of the Austro-Hungariian empire. Bermet is still produced here with the families own grapes (grown just outside of Sremski Karlovski).
Today this small city winery is open for visitors. One of the family is always on hand to provide a short tour and to offer a taste of their wines – including the Bermet.
