At the end of the 18th century, in Ruma there was a Roman Catholic church on the site where it is today, but made of wood and insufficient to accommodate all the worshipers. Therefore, in 1813 was built a new church, “Uplift of the Holy Cross”, which could accommodate up to 2,000 visitors, and next to it, a rectory for the priest. The church is a classical building, oriented in a north-south direction. The performance of the swell of the Holy Cross, which is located on the main altar, was made by Vincennes Dojčer.
