Valjevo downtown is vivid area with architecture dating from late 19th and early 20th century. Central spots and squares feature National Museum building, constructed in 1870, District Court and Municipal Court built in 1906 in the academic style featuring a facade adorned in secessionist style, Valjevo High School and National Bank buildings, reflecting the architectural style of late 19th century.
Central pedestrian zone in Vojvode Mišića Street has retained many old architectural features and runs along the left bank of Kolubara River. It is the place of many cultural and artistic events, shops and terrace bars in the summertime. Near pedestrian zone is located old building of the Valjevo railway station.
